1. How do I know if my enterprise is an MSME ?

The Ministry of MSME, Government of India have notified revised criteria for classification of micro, small and medium enterprise which shall come into effect from 1st July 2021.

If your investment in Plant and Machinery does not exceed 1 crore and turnover does not exceed 5 crore you are a micro enterprise.

If your investment in Plant and Machinery does not exceed 10 crore and turnover does not exceed 50 crore you are a small enterprise.

If your investment in Plant and Machinery does not exceed 50 crore and turnover does not exceed 250 crore you are a medium enterprise.

2. How is Udyam registration useful for me?

Udyamregistration brings MSME into the formal system and you will be able to access all Government services in a seamless manner. Udyam is mandatory for opening of bank account, availing incentives and government support services for your manufacturing unit.

3. I am a young graduate looking to set-up a new enterprise. What are the schemes available for me?

New Entrepreneur cum Enterprise Development Scheme (NEEDS) is the flagship employment generation scheme of GoTN. Under the scheme the educated youth will be given Entrepreneurship Development Programme training, assisted to prepare their business plans and helped to tie up with financial institutions so as to set up new Manufacturing and Service ventures.

4. I am school dropout? Can I get any incentives for setting up my own business?

Unemployed Youth Employment Generation Programme (UYEGP) supports 8th pass unemployed youth to set up their manufacturing/services unit at their native place.

5. I am a MSME enterprise. What are the incentives What the incentives available for me?

Micro enterprises are provided capital subsidy, additional capital subsidy, low tension power tariff subsidy, generator subsidy, stamp duty exemption, back ended interest subsidy.Land for micro units are allotted on a priority basis in SIDCO estates.

6. I want to export my products. Whom should I reach out to for more information on exports?

MSME Trade and Investment Promotion Bureau (M-TIPB) supports and promotes exports from MSMEs in Tamil Nadu.

7. How do I get more information on schemes and support provided to MSMEs?

MSME department has a District Industries Centres (DICs) in each of the 37 districts of Tamil Nadu. They will be nodal agency for MSMEs in the districts. Please reach out to them for all your queries, clarifications and support.

8. How can I participate in national and international exhibitions and buyer seller meets?

MSME Trade and Investment Promotion Bureau (M-TIPB) maintains list of various national and international events and exhibitions. Additionally subsidy is given on registration charges, airfare and lodging charges for MSMEs participating in approved list of events.

9. Can I get term loan/financial loans for my business?

Tamil Nadu Industrial Investment Corporation Limited (TIIC) is a Tamil Nadu Government undertaking. They provide term loans and working capital loans to MSMEs at attractive rates.

10. How can I approvals for setting up my manufacturing unit?

The Government has established a Single Window Portal provide Government to Business (G2B) services for new and existing enterprises in a digital manner. Online Single Window Portal delivers requisite services to investors in a time-bound and transparent manner during the Pre-establishment stage, Pre-operation stage, and Renewal stage

11. How do I identify land for setting up of my unit?

SIDCO and SIPCOT develops plots industrial estates / complexes for setting up your manufacturing unit. All basic infrastructure such as roads, streetlights, water supply and storm water drains, power supply and other amenities are provided in the Industrial complexes.

12. I want to develop a new product / production process. What support is provided to help me in this regard ?

Innovation Voucher Programme (IVP) supports MSMEs/individuals/institutiton /startups to develop new innovative products/process. Subsidy of Rs.2 -5 lakhs is provided for such initiative
