Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises

Thiru T. M. Anbarasan

Tamil Nadu is blessed with abundant resources and skilled manpower. It is one of the most sought after investment destinations for starting new ventures and is leading in several sectors such as Automobile, Leather, Textiles & Apparels, Engineering components, Pharmaceuticals etc. Tamil Nadu has the third-largest number of MSMEs in the country with a share of 8% and around five million enterprises. It also accounts for nearly 15.24% of India’s micro-enterprises and has the highest number of non-farm units. The MSMEs of Tamil Nadu provide a strong and reliable vendor base to large industries in the State.

The Government of Tamil Nadu has taken number of steps to improve the ease of doing business and to create an investor-friendly climate in the state to promote investments in the MSME sector.

The most important initiative in this regard has been the creation of an online Single Window Portal to enable MSMEs in getting approvals, clearances and No Objection Certificates (NoCs) from various government departments and agencies for establishing their enterprises.
I am confident that the various schemes implemented by the Government for the promotion and growth of MSMEs in the State will open up new vistas and provide an added impetus to attain sustainable growth.
